How local leaders cover their show expenses (i.e. production costs) can depend on the location.
In ticketed cities, guests purchase tickets in advance through the Sofar website. Depending on the setup, Sofar may cover key production expenses or the local team may manage them directly. In both cases, local leaders receive a share of the show’s net profit after expenses.
In some countries where local regulations don't support advance ticketing through Sofar, events follow a “pass the hat” model. Guests contribute at the show, and donations support the artists and the cost of the event. The local team manages these contributions directly.
