Artist compensation varies by region and type of event. At shows where tickets are sold in advance, all performers are guaranteed a flat rate, and most ticketed cities have three compensation levels, where the total payment for each artist is based on the number of tickets sold for the show.

The total payment amount will be confirmed by email after the show. Since it’s based on total ticket sales, we’re unable to confirm the amount in advance.
At free, independently organized Sofar community shows, organizers ‘pass the hat’ to collect money for artists and to help cover event expenses, and Sofar doesn’t take a cut. In some cases, organizers may coordinate for an artist to receive a high-quality video instead.
